When the Okeanos Explorer is underway on an expedition, they broadcast streams from the ship. You never what is going to be spotted…

Later today, Friday 29th September 2017, NOAA’s Ocean Explorer program is broadcasting a live deep survey of a deep water archaeological target.

The plan is to dive the American submarine S-28. This is an S-class WWII period submarine and it was lost with all hands during torpedo practice in 1944. S-28 was only recently discovered by Tim Taylor / Lost 52 Project.

The tentative dive schedule is (subject to delays):

Launch: ROV 08:30 GMT-10
ROV On Site: 09:30 -10:00 GMT-10
End Dive: 14:00 GMT-10

Viewers can switch between three different cameras during the dive.

There are two audio streams for the ROV pilots and for the archaeology science team. Listeners can change levels of the audio streams (depending on who they want to listen to) by changing the left / right levels on their computer audio.

Since posting this article there has been a change of plan.

Today’s broadcast will now be an ROV survey of the USS Baltimore.

This protected cruiser was launched in 1888 and served in the Spanish American War.

At present the ROV launch time will be approximately 08:30 GMT-10
